Born in Chicago and raised in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio, Queen Denae began writing and singing music at the age of four. she started singing in the church and school talent shows, before deciding to pursue music seriously.

After performing in many R&B and gospel groups, Queen Denae headed south to Houston, Texas, performing and recording with some of the greats in Blues and Southern Soul. Queen denae calls this her "second act" and believes this is her best music ever, as she has found her true voice in southern soul. Known for her raw and unfiltered lyrics, queen denae is a force to BE reckoned with and has been compared to icons like millie jackson, denise lasalle, and shirley brown.
